A word for 2018

A word for 2018

And I pray that he would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power. Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.

Ephesians 3:16-17 TPT

At the end of every year, I often take some time off to think, ponder, and meditate on how the entire year looked like. Obviously, the year had its ups and downs like most people would expect. There were moments of incredible joy and painful sorrow which eventually made 2017 a year of confirming my calling to serve God with all my heart.  Besides, during this same year, all the spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit graced me with were confirmed. God’s care for my life was displayed in such an amazingly supernatural way. Therefore, the bottom line is that in twenty seventeen God proved to be faithful even when I failed him.

However, I have been asking God what he wants me to focus on during the coming year, 2018. In response to my worries, the Holy Spirit nevertheless whispered these words in my heart, “Son, I want to take you to another level, I want you to walk in the riches of my glory and favor. I want you to deepen your relationship with me. I want you to flow in the supernatural and listen to my voice in a much more clear way.” The Holy Spirit even went further to give Ephesians 3:16-19 as the Scripture for the upcoming year.

Therefore, I want to take Paul’s prayer and make it my own. My prayer for twenty eighteen is that God would unveil deep inside of me, in the depths of my heart, in the extensiveness of my mind, and in the fathomless of my spirit; the never-ending and limitless riches of His glory and favor. Of course, the Glory of God is something that my mind still tries to comprehend, even though every single time it fails to do so. According to Michael P. Green, “God’s “glory” is how we describe the sum effect of all of his attributes.” This, however, implies that grace, truth, goodness, mercy, justice, knowledge, power, and eternality are not just characteristics that describe God, but they all are who He is. God’s glory, in essence, is the indescribable beauty that emanates from His character. More so, it is that unspeakable magnificence from all that He is.

I know one big question most of us keep asking ourselves is “What does it mean to experience the favor of God in our lives?” Well, the answer is simple since the Favor of God can be described as that tangible proof that a person has the approval of the Father over their life. It is worth mentioning that the favor of God is the source of mercy and a healthy spiritual life. Proverbs 8:35, however, says: “For the fountain of life pours into you every time that you find me, and this is the secret of growing in the delight and the favor of the Lord”. These words nonetheless clearly mean that having a healthy spiritual life leads to gaining spiritual wisdom and the latter one opens the door for God’s favor to be poured out upon us. Hence, finding God on a daily basis is the secret of gaining His favor. When God’s supernatural strength finds his might or power, then the life of Christ will be released deep inside of us, and this will, in turn, lead to the love of God to become the source of our life.

My prayers in 2018, therefore, goes as follows;

  • I pray that with God’s help and the assistance of the blessed Holy Spirit I get to be empowered to discover “the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions” (Ephesians 3:18) every day during 2018.
  • I pray that in twenty eighteen I get to experience and not take for granted God’s intimate and far-reaching love in a deeper way.
  • I pray that I get to extend the endurance and inclusive love of God to those who desperately need to know and experience it first-hand.
  • I pray that I get to be filled with the fullness of God until it simply overflows as the direct result of continuous pouring of the Father’s extravagant love into my life.

It is my sincere and earnest prayer that the life of Christ will be released deep inside of me on a daily basis as I go through life during twenty eighteen. My friend, my prayer for you as we round up 2017 and begin 2018 is that God would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power.
